During lockdown I invited a group of women to perform aa flashmob along the Southbank. The enthusiastic audience response that sunny July morning convinced me there was a space for performance featuring Old Women.  The initial impulse was to shed new light on a range of texts, to creatively engage with communities and promote positive representations of older women.

OW! TheatreLab is Wendy Buckley, Sasha Winslow, Rose Taw, Meena Agrawal, Jan Woods, Hildary Hodson, Mina Temple and numerous other women who generously joined us along the way.

OW! TheatreLab is made possible by support from Southwark Playhouse, Art Explora, Lewisham College, and Rose Bruford.

An especial thanks to David Workman and Phoebe Grudzinskas

BENEFIT FOR UKRAINIAN WOMEN & CHILDREN

This sold-out benefit performance of he Government Inspector  (GI) raised £2,525 for Action Aid/DEC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal. Thank you for so many generous donations.

Our post-colonial mash up of 'Our Country's Good' by Timberlake Wertenbaker with additional text from Thomas Kineally's "The Playmaker", song and physical theatre.

"It was really terrific to see your work, we all found it very inspiring, both in the staging and in the examination of the characters and themes. It has so much to say across generations and I am sure that your audiences will excited by the ways that they are drawn into the scene and understand that they are part of the conversation."

Poetry Jam!June 2024

"Just wanted to feedback how amazing today's session was. Please pass onto OW! TheatreLab how much theresidents enjoyed it!  It was so fresh and different, they weresuch engaging and funny performers- but also plenty of realemotional moments too! I was really impressed at how OW! inspired the DBC gang to be creative & write their own poems. If there is a way to have OW! perform again, we would love it!"
